Iran, Netherlands Weigh Plans to Boost Scientific Cooperation

A delegation from Iran’s presidential bureau for Science and Technology Affairs attended the meeting with a group of Dutch academics, scientists and university students to coordinate efforts in promoting technological cooperation between Tehran and Amsterdam.

In an address to the gathering, Iran’s Ambassador to Amsterdam Alireza Jahangiri hailed the growing trend in scientific cooperation between the two countries following the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

Since the nuclear deal came into force in January, many countries, including European powers, have expressed willingness to develop stronger scientific and industrial ties with Iran.

Last week, Jahangiri and president of the Netherlands’ central bank (De Nederlandsche Bank), Klaas Knot, held a meeting in The Hague to discuss ways to boost banking interactions between the two nations.
