Iran produces rehabilitation robot

Ghazaleh Moshiri, who led the study, said the robot passed the tests conducted by Khayyam University researchers and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences confirmed the validation of tests, Iran Daily reported.

The two-motor robot enhances the strength, mobility and endurance of patients.

Rehabilitation robotics is a field of research dedicated to understanding rehabilitation through the application of robotic devices.

Rehabilitation robotics includes development of robotic devices tailored for assisting different sensorimotor functions (arm, hand, leg), development of different schemes of assisting therapeutic training, and assessment of sensorimotor performance (ability to move) of patient.

Rehabilitation using robotics is generally well tolerated by patients.

Rehabilitation robotics are popular with people who have suffered a stroke because the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation method is applied.

When a person suffers a stroke, his/her nervous system is damaged in most cases, causing him/her to have disability for six months after the stroke.

The robot would be able to carry out exercises recommended by a therapist, but the robot will do exercises that are not so easy for a human being.
