Iran, S. Korea to expand educational cooperation

Iran's Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi and South Korean Minister of Education Lee Joon Sik were signatories to the agreement.
Iran's Ambassador to South Korea Hassan Taherian was also present in the MoU inking ceremony.
In a speech to the inking ceremony, Farhadi said there are 4,800,000 students busy studying in Iran, 100,000 of them in the PhD level.
He went on to say that there are 29 technical parks in Iran and the country is prepared to expand cooperation in the field.
He also proposed exchange of students and professors, holding seminars and conducing research projects with the Korean party.
He said Iran is ready to offer scholarships to Korean students and admit them, exchange professors and hold joint educational workshops.
He also suggested establishing the South Korea Studies Center in Iran which was welcomed by the Korean party.
Lee said in turn that his country is ready for cooperation with Iran in cultural and academic domains.
He also welcomed establishment of the Korean language center in Iran.
He said for the time being, there are six Korean universities cooperating with Iranian universities and South Korean Education Ministry is ready to expand the cooperation in a broader level.
