Iran, Tatarstan agree to form working group on culture

The meeting was held between Iran's cultural attaché in Moscow Reza Maleki and deputy culture minister of Tatarstan, according to IRNA.

In the meeting, Maleki said the Western culture and extremist moves are two major threats to security and identity of regional nations.

Maleki made the remarks while referring to cultural relations between Tehran and Kazan. He further called for sustainable cultural cooperation between the two sides.

He then called for establishment of Iran-Russia friendship association in Kazan.

For her part, deputy culture minister of Tatarstan said Kazan is willing to widen cultural relations with Iran which enjoys rich culture and civilization.

The Republic of Tatarstan is a federal subject of Russia located in the Volga Federal District. Its capital is the city of Kazan.

According to Russian laws, Republic of Tatarstan can have direct relations with foreign countries.
