Iran, Uganda TV to Produce Joint Quranic Programs

The programs will be aired during the holy month of Ramadan (June 18- July 17).
The decision was made in a meeting between Iran’s cultural attaché Ali Bakhtiari and a number of the UBC TV officials.
In this meeting, Bakhtiari described the Quran as the Word of God that inspires peace and friendship among nations and underlined the need for paying attention to Quranic activities.
He said the Iranian cultural center is ready to cooperate with UBC TV in different Quranic, religious, cultural and interfaith areas.
The Ugandan TV’s officials also voiced willingness for cooperation with the Iranian center, Fars news agency reported.
Uganda is a landlocked country in central Africa. Christianity and Islam are the most widely professed religions in the country. According to 2002 census, 85 percent of Uganda’s population is Christian, while over 12 percent of the population adheres to Islam.
The UBC (Uganda Broadcasting Corporation), which was established in 2005, broadcasts programs in English.
