Iran wins first women Olympics medal

Alizadeh, the only woman representing Iran on the 13th day of the Olympic Games beat her Croatian rival and entered the second round of the competitions.

Alizadeh lost the game in her second fight in the quarterfinal against the Spanish taekwondoka.

Finally, Iranian athlete gained victory at the end of three sensitive rounds with the result of 5/1 and won bronze medal.

Thus, she is first Iranian woman who gained medal in Olympic Games.

Earlier, Kianoush Rostami and Sohrab Mardai won gold medals in weightlifting and Saeed Abd-e Vali and Qasem Rezaei grabbed bronze medals in Greco-Roman wrestling.

The opening ceremony of the 31st round of the Olympics Games started in Rio, Brazil on Aug 6.

Iran competes in the Games with 64 athletes of whom 9 are women.

The Rio 2016 Olympic Games is underway with 10,500 athletes from 205 countries who are to compete in 44 articles of 28 sports fields.
