Iranian children ace Japan int'l painting contest

The Iranian children won 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 5 bronze medals and 1 honorable mention.

The World Children's Picture Contest has been held as part of its cultural activities since 1993 in order to promote awareness about nature and agriculture as well as to encourage friendship and goodwill among children around the world and help them develop humanitarian characters.

Themes of this year's contest were 'Agriculture”“Farming Area”“Nature”“Environment” and “Local People”“Family”.

The gold winners for Iran were Nasrin Mahboob, 13, from Parsabad of Ardebil Province and Mohebat Changizi, 13, from Behbahan, Khouzestan Province. The silver winner was Yegane Putabashi, 8, from havaniruz of Kermanshah, while the bronze winners were Tarane Haji Najaf, 6, from Ahvaz, Yasna Shekarzehi, 8, from Zahedan, Narjes Seyed Nejad, 15, from North Khorassan Province, Hossein Nayeri, 11, from Kuzran of Kermanshah Province and Baran Nazari, 7, from Shahinshahr of Isfahan Province.

Amir-Hossein Moosavi-Rad, 9, from Behbahan city of Khouzestan province received the honorable mention.

Children in age group of 6-15 years old as of December 31,2014 are eligible to participate.

The contest gave a total of 20 gold, 40 silver, 60 bronze medals and 80 honorable mention.

A total of 23,868 paintings from 83 countries were sent to the secretariat and from Iran 1370 works had taken part.

Iranian children and young adults have over the past 20 years won valuable awards from the artistic event, each year sponsored by a non-profit Japanese agricultural institute.

The sponsors for this year's event were International Raiffeisen Union, the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Japan, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan,

the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, NHK(Japan Broadcasting Corporation),

Japan Federation of Art Education Teachers, Japan International Cooperation Agency, Meanwhile, the supporting organizations were the Central Union of Agricultural Co-operatives, the Norinchukin Bank, and Nokyo Tourist Corporation.

Based on the report, the cooperation organization for the artistic event was Sakura Color Products Corp.
