Iranian President Highlights Resistance Front’s Victories

"In fight against terrorism in the region, the countries of the line of resistance, Iran, Iraq and Syria, as well as Russia, achieved major victories and (as a result) Daesh’s main bases in the region collapsed,” the president said in a televised interview on Tuesday.

Earlier this month, in a message to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force Major General Qassem Soleimani declared that the notorious group’s rule has come to an end with the accomplishment of a mission to liberate Syria’s eastern city of Al-Bukamal, near the Iraqi border, the last Daesh stronghold in the region.

Speaking on behalf of all commanders and forces fighting against terrorism, thousands of Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian, Lebanese, Afghan, and Pakistani martyrs and those handicapped in defending the life and dignity of Muslims and their sanctities, the top general congratulated Ayatollah Khamenei, the Iranian nation, the people of Iraq and Syria, and all Muslims on the fall of Daesh.

Daesh militants had made swift advances in northern and western Iraq over the summer of 2014, after capturing large areas of Syria.

Elsewhere in the Tuesday interview, the Iranian president referred to Saudi Arabia’s hostile moves against Iran, saying that Riyadh’s revamped enmity toward Tehran is an attempt to cover up its regional failures and domestic troubles.

"Saudi Arabia is trying to solve two problems, this is way it introduces Iran as its enemy,” he said.

He added that the Saudis’ first problem is to somehow mask its regional failures.

Saudi Arabia failed in Qatar, failed in Iraq, in Syria and recently in Lebanon, Rouhani said, adding that they failed in all these areas.

Rouhani said that Riyadh’s second problem was "internal differences and chaos in the kingdom”.

Saudi Arabia has been pursuing an open warmongering policy toward Iran. Earlier this year, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman threatened to move the "battle” to Iran.
