Iranian Qari in Kuala Lumpur to Attend int’l Quran Competition

According to Ali Akbar Ziyaei, Iranian Cultural Attaché in Malaysia, Seyed Mostafa Hosseini arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

He said a Quranic delegation and reporters from a number of Iranian media outlets accompany the prominent Qari to cover the international event.

The 58th edition of Malaysia’ international Quran contest, officially named "International Al Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly”, will kick off on Monday, May 2.

120 Quran reciters and memorizers from some 70 countries are expected to take part in the competition.

A 16-strong panel of judges comprising Quran experts from Lebanon, Qatar, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia, Egypt, Thailand and Malaysia will supervise the contest.

Last year, Iran’s representative Mohsen Hajihassani Kargar finished first in the recitation category of Malaysia’s international Quranic event.

He lost his life, among over 7000 others, in September in a crush of pilgrims in Mina, Saudi Arabia, during Hajj.
