Iranian Qur'an reciter highly welcome in Dakar l

Majid Zakilu, who was in the West African country at the invitation of Senegal's National Qur'anic Schools Association, took part in the Qur'an recitation session in the mosque, IQNA reported.

Over a thousand Qur'anic and cultural figures and students of Qur'anic centers of the country participated in the session.

Iran's Cultural Attaché in Senegal Hassan Esmati, and director of Senegal's National Qur'anic Schools Association also attended the event.

Zakilu’s Qur'an recitation was warmly welcomed by the audience.

In a speech after his recitation, the Iranian reciter voiced readiness to help promote relations between the two countries in the Qur'anic field.

Senegal is on Africa's west coast and Islam is the predominant religion in the country. Muslims make up an estimated 92 percent of Senegal's population.

Islam has been prevalent religion in Senegal since the 11th century.
