Iran’s book-reading promoter Abdolhakim Bahar has been selected for the 2021 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) in Sweden.
The Iranian nominee has been chosen because of his reading promotion in the deprived regions for 16 years.
Established in 2002 by the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs to commemorate writer Astrid Lindgren, the event is aimed at promoting interest in children's and young adult literature.
Authors, illustrators, oral storytellers, as well as reading promoters, are eligible for the award.
