Iranian v-ballers cruise into finals

Competing in the semifinals of the 18th edition of the Asian Men's U20 Volleyball Championship on Saturday, the national Iranian outfit overcame Japanese rivals 3-1 securing a place in the final round.

The semifinal fixture was staged at the indoor Kaohsiung Arena in the city of Kaohsiung, southwestern Taiwan where Iran came out victorious in all sets except for the third one (25-16, 25-16, 29-31, 25-19).

Previously in the qualification round, the Persians had ruled out Turkmenistan, Hong Kong as well as Qatar all with 3-0 results.

Later, Behrouz Ataei’s boys managed to thrash South Korean and Sri Lankan rivals in addition to overwhelming Kazakhstan in the quarterfinal round.

Iran’s final encounter will be competed today against the winner of South Korea versus China fixture.

Having reached the finals of Asian Junior Championships, the Iranian squad also earned tickets to Men's U21 World Championship to be hosted by Czech Republic in the year 2017.

The 18th edition of the Asian Men's U20 Volleyball Championship kicked off in Kaohsiung on July 9 and will wrap up today on July 17.
