Iran's global scientific ranking improves

'The expansion of post-graduate studies and Iran's 1.6 percent share in the world in addition to rise in number of Iran's superior universities in the world is part of the country's scientific growth trends,' Khodaei said, addressing the closing ceremony of International Scientific-Student Olympiad in Tehran on Thursday.

He went on to say that the number of the universities and higher education institutes has hit 2,500 units and the university student population of the country has increased to 4.8 million.

'Over 60 percent of the share of the universities' theoretical courses belongs to female university students,' Khodaei added.

He noted that if the higher education development takes place in a balanced manner and by including the educational justice, 'we can be hopeful about the country's future'.

The 17th International Mathematics Olympiad, Ninth International Chemistry Olympiad and Third International Statistics Olympiad were held in Tehran on August 7-11.
