IRNA chief: Using modern information technologies key to survival of media

Speaking in a meeting with a group of Greek journalists and documentary writers, Khoddadi said to preserve their status, the mass media, especially news agencies, should be able to present their products in a diversified manner, using new technologies and methods.
He said gone is the era of paper material, computer and even TV and they are replaced by mobile sets. He added that now, a new era of journalism has begun worldwide featuring use of cell phones as a means for receiving news and information.
Outlining IRNA achievements over the past two years by taking advantage of diversified news software, Khoddadi said specialized web sites and channels, IRNA infographic lines and on-line journalism school are instances of such achievements.
Replying to questions posed by the Greek journalists on professional issues, Khoddadi said IRNA policy is based on expanding news sources using state-of-the-art technologies to better reflect domestic events in different languages for its audience worldwide.
He added that IRNA is a member of most international news organizations, including OANA, and in various junctures, it has chaired many international gatherings.
Khoddadi said direct link with the mass media and people of other countries is the most appropriate method to access news and information, adding 'IRNA believes that the news and reports sent by a third source might be politically motivated thus failing to show realities.'
Later on, the Greek journalists visited various sections of IRNA and talked to reporters and chief editors of IRNA on how they cover domestic and international news.
