Isfahan elected World Innovative City

Isfahan Mayor Mehdi Jamalinejad announced the news on Saturday saying that Isfahan is the first Iranian city which joined WIC.

World Innovative Cities Network is the most trustworthy world network, which was established by the UNESCO, and Isfahan was elected as member of the network because of its handicrafts and popular arts.

The mayor said the UNESCO statement announced that innovation as the driving engine of urban sustainable development accompanied with social participation and cultural mobility may bring a better future for the city.

'So urban management by following up the registration process for Isfahan in World Network of Innovative Cities as well as creation of Innovation center in Isfahan Municipality is taking the primary steps in this field.'

He thanked all those who had tried in this field and said that urban management program related to such an important world event will be declared soon.

According to the UNESCO standard, innovative city is a town which uses its citizens' innovation and capabilities in urban sustainable development.

World Innovative Cities Network was founded in 2004 by the UNESCO and as its indexes were handicrafts, architecture and designing, media, music and food.
