Isfahan hosting Conference on Attar Neishabouri

Professors from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Sarajevo University, National University of Australia, Research Center of Humanities and Cultural Studies and Isfahan University.

Secretary of the conference, Seyyed Ali Asghar Mir Bagherifard told the inaugural ceremony that the conference aims to commemorate the well-known Iranian poet.

Noting that the event will review Attar's works, he added that the main goal of the event is to present a true analysis of his intellectual basis as well as his role in Islamic mysticism.

Referring to cooperation between Isfahan University and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies since four years ago, he said that they have undertaken joint research projects during the period.

Translation of 'Elahinameh' into Japanese language is one of the projects, which is being implemented by Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.

Attar, was a great Persian mystic and poet. Born in Neishabour, Attar was a poet of the Seljuk dynasty. Mantiq al-Tayr (Conference of Birds), Mokhtarnameh, Mosibatnameh and Elahinameh are among his better-known works.

Mantiq al-Tayr is known as an incontestable masterpiece in Persian literature and has been translated into many languages.

April 15 (Farvardin 25) is observed every year as Attar Commemoration Day in Iran.
