Islam Stresses Humans' Responsibility toward Environment

In a meeting with Iran’s environment and natural resources officials on Sunday, the Supreme Leader said Islam and other divine faiths have always stressed the need for human beings to feel responsible toward the nature.
The meeting took place on the occasion of the Natural Resources Week, which is annually observed in Iran to draw attentions to the need for protecting natural resources and the environment.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to environmental challenge as a widespread challenge in the world but noted that the majority of environmental problems are preventable and solvable.
His Eminence also reiterated the role of people in the protection of the environment.
In a speech last year, Ayatollah Khamenei called for all-out endeavors to protect the environment in Iran, and urged a halt to the environmental damage caused by the new constructions.
The Supreme Leader also acknowledged the work of all the personnel engaged in the development of the country’s green space, and said, “I ask the officials and the whole people to care about the issue of the green space, and not to let the country and the people’s lives to be deprived of such perfect gift from God.”
