Italy, Iran to Cooperate on Environment Protection

Ma'soumeh Ebtekar in a meeting with Minister of the Environment, Protection of Land and Sea of Italy Gian Luca Galletti said as the result of climate change, some West Asian states including Iran are suffering from the dust storm.
Iran is keen to kick off cooperation with the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and Italy to share its experiences with them in order to decrease environmental problems, Ebtekar added.
She said that Iran is pursuing the Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) programs to decrease environmental programs.
Ebtekar stressed the importance of joint scientific and technical cooperation between countries and regional and international organizations on climate change.
She urged boost of cooperation between all countries to protect maritime environment as well as the plant and animal diversity.
Ebtekar voiced hope that Milan 2015 expo become an opportunity for transfer of experiments in the field of environment.
Minister of the environment, protection of land and sea of Italy for his part stressed increase of all-out ties between the two countries particularly in the field of environment.
The official voiced hope for resolution of Iran's nuclear issue, adding that it can remove obstacles on the way of enhanced ties.
Galletti also invited Iran's head of Environmental Protection Organization to attend Milan 2015 Expo.
He voiced hope that Iran could attend the next meeting of the European Environment Agency (EEA) as an observer.
Expo 2015 is the next scheduled Universal Exposition after Expo 2012, and will be hosted by Milan between May 1 and October 31. This will be the second time Milan hosts the exposition, the first being the Milan International of 1906.
