During the talks held on the sidelines of the 13th annual meeting of Science and Technology in Society (STS) in Kyoto, Japan, Matsuno highlighted the role Iran is playing on the international scene of science and technology, IRNA reported.
Pointing to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries last year, the Japanese minister called for more efforts to implement the memo.
The Iranian minister referred to the importance of the conference, and said that such gatherings would have effective outcome in the development of science and technology.
Farhadi also voiced Iran’s readiness for student exchange in graduate courses, improvement of courses on Japanese studies in Iran and courses on Iranian studies in Japan.
Farhadi, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Kyoto on Saturday.
He also held talks with counterparts from Turkey, Thailand, and Qatar.
Qatar’s Science Minister Muhammad al-Ahmadi praised the performance and policies of Iran for development of scientific, technological and research cooperation on the international scene. He also voiced his country’s readiness to cooperate with Tehran in nanotechnology, bioscience, bioengineering and ICT.
Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum was established in 2004 as an non-governmental organization and now 81 persons are members of the central council of STS from 28 countries, including Iran.
