In a meeting with members of Khorasan Razavi province coordination and planning council Friday morning, he said: 'Although Mashhad has always been the cultural capital of Islamic world from the ancient time, but the new decision to assign it as the Islamic World Cultural Capital by Organization of Islamic Cooperation for the year 2017 is the best chance to further develop the urban and social infrastructure of this religious city.
President Rouhani indicated on the utilization of the province's existing potentialities and capacities and the provincial administrative authorities and organizations to develop the province.
Expressing his condolences on the sad demise of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Imam Hassan (AS), he said: 'As Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is the best creation of God through Whom Allah revealed His mercies to His creatures and servants, thus the demise was also a miserable and sad occasion for all human beings on the earth, because the demise had also halted the flow of the heavenly message to the earth.
'Although Islam by itself is a religion of peace, mercy and coexistence, but unfortunately, nowadays some violence and terrorism are committed in the name of Islam which a matter of great sorrow and indeed regrets for all human beings', He added.
President said: 'We have to present the true image of Islam to attract world public opinion, as Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam, with his presence in then Khorasan revealed that Islam is the religion of culture, logic and dialogue'.
On the sideline of the provincial council meeting, Hassan Rouhani met with two members of the Elite Council of the leadership and appreciated the for their support to the President and his administration.
