Malaysia Plans Int’l Seminar on Quran in Contemporary Society

TEHRAN (IQNA) - International seminar on Quran in Contemporary Society under the theme of “Quran Leads Ummah Wasatiyyah” is planned to be held at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Terengganu, Malaysia on 10th-11th October, 2015 (Saturday-Sunday).

The Seminar on al-Qur’an in the Contemporary Society (SQ2015) is a biannual seminar organized by the Faculty of the Contemporary Islamic Studies.

According to the unisza.edu.my website, the international seminar will bring together local and international scholars who have expertise in various fields. This will give useful input in outlining the criteria of moderation in all aspects of life in order to make ummatan wasata mentioned in the Quran come into reality.
The main objectives of this seminar are to discuss the idea of moderation (wasatiyyah) outlined by al-Qur’an in every aspect of societal life, discuss the contemporary issues from the Quranic worldview as an evidence of its significant role as well as its relevancy as the most authentic and authoritative reference in all aspects of human life, in line with the niche of Islamic Contemporary Studies, highlight the uniqueness of the Quran as the guide of the Ummah Wasatiyyah, explore the glory of Qur’anic education at all levels including the State of Terengganu and to establish the networking among local and international academics and scholars.
In this seminar different topics regarding contemporary society from Quranic view such as Al-Qur’an, Science and Technology, Al-Qur’an, Politics and International Relation, Al-Qur’an, Economics and Muamalat, Al-Qur’an, Civilization and Culture, Al-Qur’an, Jurisprudence (Fiqh) and Law, Al-Qur’an, Doctrines (‘Aqidah) and Thoughts, Al-Qur’an and Medicine and  Al-Qur’an, Da'wah and Education will be discussed.
