Maleki Lays out Plans for Next School Year

Dr. Hassan Maleki, the head of organization for Educational Planning and Research, told journalist in his first press conference that the OERP is focused on providing learning packages rather than textbooks.

“Learning package refers to a set of educational materials and multimedia tools in a particular course that is designed and developed based on specific learning objectives. Usually the learning package contains textbooks, the student workbook, the teacher's guide, the educational videos and other related materials.

He added: “We need to move from the focusing on the textbook to prioritizing the learning package based on curriculum standards.”

Saying that the organizations is determined to focus on futures and strategic studies, the head of OERP noted that in the new structure of the OERP, strategic studies and the futures studies are considered highly and the Education minister has also approved it.

“The content of the Shaad network should also improve which is currently underway. Social media is more important than ever now we know this. Everyone is mobilized to take effective and scientific steps to have virtual learning packages in various fields.”

About the educational plan of Iran for the next year, Dr. Maleki said the organization is considering a combination of online and traditional classes. “A combination that involves both face-to-face education and online education. In this approach, a model should be prepared.

There is another plan, which according to the Iran’s National Mobilization against COVID-19 office, it is probable that the classes are called off for the next school year and then we are obliged to continue education online; therefore, another model is required.

Asked about the international plans of OERP, Dr. Maleki said that the organization is employing and considering latest international educational theories to improve “our own programs.”

“We are not bound to design our models solely based on international theories. but we are employing the latest theories while we develop our own models based on our philosophical point of view.
