Message from the Minister of Education on the occasion of World Literacy Day
According to the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Education, the message reads as follows:
In the name of God
Literacy is one of the main components of the heavenly religions, especially the religion of Islam, and the beginning of human movement to improve the life and the right of basic human rights, which reduces poverty, mortality and promotes sustainable development.
The World Literacy Day is the symbol of the will of all countries to confront and fight ignorance and to inform people about the ways of growth and the preservation and protection of human dignity. Naming this day in 2018, as "Literacy and Skills Development", highlights the importance of teaching and learning, and thus empowering people to enter the field of effort, production, independence, and life with dignity.
We are grateful to God, as a result of the good effort of my respected colleagues in the organization of the literacy movement, the educators and the participating organizations in this important matter, in line with the historical decree of Imam Khomeini and the emphasis of the Supreme Leader.
One of the major achievements of this great move is the increase of the literacy rate from 48% to 87%, introducing literacy practices, through computer, tablet and television education , The creation and development of local learning centers aimed at promoting skills training and citizenship rights and training foreign citizens, and I hope that these valuable successes will continue.
I also would like to thank my colleagues for their honest efforts in this line.
