The first word and the first commandment of the last holy book of God is “to read,” Seyyed Mohammad Bathayi said; Accordingly, education is the basis of the intellectual system of Islam as a way of educating people who through the darkness of ignorance could come to the light of knowledge and virtue, and the valley of salvation and happiness.
The glorious Islamic Revolution of Iran, as a major cultural stream, is a flagship of fighting ignorance towards awareness, as it was commanded by the founder and leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Imam Khomeini (RA), in the seventh of Bahman 1358, which was came to be considered as the day of establishment of the literacy movement. He also emphasized that in the long-term plan, we have to put our country's culture into independent culture and self-sufficiency, as education and learning are considered worship, which Allah has invoked for our guidance and excellence.
The fruit of Imam Khomeini’s efforts and our teachers’ as well, is the growth of literacy by a high percentage and I am sure that this luminous way of life, seriousness and unceasing efforts will benefit those who are still deprived of literacy in improving their lives and bring them good life and prosperity
