Ministerial Press Conference

Following is parts of his comments:

Education is in charge of providing man power for all sectors. Currently there are more than 13 million students studying at 105 thousand schools and in a way education is the biggest link between the government and people so all our measures influence the lives of millions.

During the past two years coverage of pre-elementary education has increased from %38.2 to %55.3 with a priority given to the bilingual regions. Unlike elementary, pre-elementary is not compulsory of course. Coverage at elementary level has also increased by %.24. We struggle for a complete coverage however sometimes families, economically or culturally, prevent their kids or their female children from attending schools. Rate of coverage at secondary for middle and high school levels are respectively 94 and %82.

For increasing coverage at secondary level we have taken some measures including rural schools, distance education and boarding schools. Currently 400 thousand students are studying at boarding schools where self-reliance project is being run both to fill students' free time and to secure a profit for students and their schools.

It is worth saying that the minister also provided information on other topics including organizing teaching staff, budget, families counseling, talented students, etc. and at the end he announce that implementation headquarters of the Education Fundamental Transformation Charter has started working.
