Ministerial Records in the field of education in the Fortieth Anniversary of the Islamic Revolution

The education and training of students after the Islamic Revolution of Iran became a special focus by Imam Khomeini, as he said: "The House of Representatives and committed thinkers should make the culture of reform, including the reform of schools from primary to university, and use all the means for the purpose and remove the barriers on the way.”

Also, Ayatollah Khamenei said: “The best and most prominent ideas should be regarded to design education; the philosophy of education must be clear and based on this philosophy, the future horizons of education in the country should be clear.”

Since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, til today, 14 ministers have taken office of the Ministry of Education

Currently, Sayyid Mohammed Bathayi leads the education system; he seeks to motivate and rejuvenate the environment of schools.

Since 1979, the number of schoolchildren has increased, and the maximum coverage was attended by the education authorities.

The schools in the country in 1979 were 52,606, which reached 148,449 schools in 2019, up by 184.4 percent.

The number of technical and vocational schools increased from 675 schools to 2412 schools which have the growth of 257%.

The number of Iranian schools abroad has also reached 114 schools this year from 19 schools in 1979, while the number of Iranian schools abroad has increased from 7 countries to 54 countries, which represents a growth of 500 percent.

In the year 1979, no school was connected to the National Network of Information and Communication. But now 65,000 schools in the country are connected to the National Information and Communications Network.

Statistics show the dramatic growth in the population of the country's students in the year 1979 was 8.32 thousand and 628, which reached 14.5 million and 715.890 this year. It shows an increase of 76%.

The number of preschool students in the year 1979 was 259 thousand and 576 people, which reached 9735 thousand and 706 in 2019, which represents a 260 per cent increase.

The number of elementary school students at the beginning of the revolution was 5, 7, 412, which now reached 7, 877, and 943 people, showing a 57% increase.

The number of first-year students at the beginning of the revolution was 1.537 thousand and 810, reaching 3 million 192 thousand and 493 people, up by 108 per cent, as well as the number of secondary school students at the beginning of the revolution of one million 88 thousand and 334 people, reaching 2 million 201 thousand and 126 people this year, showing a 102 per cent growth.

At the beginning of the revolution, the number of students in nongovernmental schools was 620 thousand and 68, now reaching 2,776 thousand and 518, showing a growth of 348 per cent.

The number of male students at the beginning of the revolution was 5 million and 150 thousand and 736, now reaching 7, 637, 749, and an increase of 48 per cent.

The number of female students at the beginning of the revolution was 3 million and 179 thousand and 892 people, which has reached to 7, 78 thousand and 141 people, which represent a 123 per cent growth.

The number of technical and professional girl students at the beginning of the revolution was 42,509, which has reached to 185006 people in 2018, which represents 272 percent growth.

The number of elementary nomadic students at the beginning of the revolution was 78,982, of which the figure reached 187,497 in 2019, up by 137.4 percent. Also, the number of nomadic girl students at the beginning of the revolution was 31,595, which now stands at 88,649, representing 181 percent growth.

Before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, juveniles with a disability could not go to schools, and they were imprisoned in their homes, and even people did not know that there was a disabled child in their neighborhood.

At the beginning of the revolution, the number of exceptional students was 8316, which now stands at 152,776 and represents 1728% of the growth.

The number of exceptional schools in the year 57 was 162 schools, reaching 1564 schools and 856% growth.

At the beginning of the revolution, there were five brilliant talent centers in the country, of which with 938 students, but now it has grown to 393 schools with 7760 percent growth and 113 thousand and 23 students with 11,949 percent growth.

The percentage of literacy in the country has also risen from 48.08 to 94.7 percent in the population aged 10-49, while the percentage of literacy among urban and rural areas has dropped from 34.9 to 12.7 percent.

At the beginning of the revolution, foreign students were not covered by education, which currently Islamic Republic of Iran educates 472,000 foreign students in Iranian schools.

The number of training staff at the beginning of the revolution was 342 thousand, which is currently 894 thousand and 264 people. The number of female education staffs has risen from 168,956 to 487,110.

At the beginning of the revolution, the number of teachers was 230 thousand 574, which now reached 563 thousand and 899 people. The ratio of students to total education staff at the beginning of the revolution was 24.3%, which now stands at 16.5%.

The number of camps and education centers raised from 83 units to 2513 units, showing a growth of 2928%. Also, the number of welfare centers for education rose from 26 units to 345 units, which shows 1227% growth.

In December 22, 2011, the document on the fundamental transformation of education after the expert review of about 600 professors of the seminary and university was drafted and prepared.

The Fundamental Transformation in the education system based on the high ideals of the Islamic system should focus on the perspective that, on the horizon of the 2026, the Iranian-Islamic education system should be developed with the first position of economic, scientific and technological knowledge in the region with an Islamic revolutionary identity, inspired by the Islamic world, interactively Constructive and effective in the field of international relations.

However, during this period, six sub-elements of the Education Transformation Document have been drafted, but are still being implemented.
