More powers for principals and teachers

As public Relations of the Ministry of Education reports from Khorasan Razavi, Dr. Fakhreddin danesh Ashtiani said in the joint meeting of deputies and managers of educational districts of Khorasan Razavi province: Against all the efforts made in educational system, the outcome is not what it is foreseen in the “Reform Statement” and so there are lots of criticizes made to this system.

There is a fundamental revision required in educational system, continued he. Increasing unofficial educational space is one of the threats we face today and we should manage the situation by getting closer to the modern educational systems in the world.

Maybe we have been in a wrong way from the beginning, when we separated educational issues from pedagogical ones, while these two are separable.

In countries with advance educational system, formal subjects are just a tool not the aim and the whole school time is centered around students’ pedagogical concerns.

If we really aim for raising creative students, the system should be designed to make them think in every situation and to act accordingly and in real life, as well, but we should be careful not to use a commanding tone to achieve this goal.

He continued: Something that annoys our teachers is evaluation of their activities in scholls and the pattern for this evaluation. We intend to revise and amend this process in near future, so the most of it would be teacher’s self-evaluation and studying their activities in classes. In a larger scale, we are trying to submit powers from Ministry level to provinces, from provinces to towns and districts and to the schools and in the same program, educational councils will be the main decision makers.
