On the occasion the minister, who is also the president of J&K Shia Association, threw light on the life and teachings of Hazrat Ali (AS) and Imam HUssein (AS) and narrated the incidents of Karbala.
The Majlis was started with recitation of Holy Quran, followed by marsiya (elegies) by renowned Zakirs. The Majlis was organized under the aegis of J & K Shia Association.
After the Majlis, the minister also lead a Muharram procession which started from Imambara Ashaibagh and culminated at Imambara Hassanabad.
Meanwhile, J&K Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen organized a Hussaini Mushaira at Iqbal Khomeini Hall (RA) Mohalla Syed Afazal Sheer-e-Bhat.
The program started with recitation of the Holy Quran. Hundreds of devotees attended the event which was chaired by Chief Patron Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Moulana Abass Ansari.
He threw light on the martyrs of Karbala and teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). He also urged the Muslim brethren to remain united.
On the occasion, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Moulana Khursheed Kanoongo, Javed Ahmad Mir, Moulana Masroor Abass Ansari, and others also addressed the gathering.
Earlier, a blood donation camp was also held at Alamgari Bazar and Hawal Chowk which was organized by the Hussaini Peoples Council, in which number of volunteers donated their blood pints.
