National brain mapping lab opens in Tehran

The Laboratory which is believed to provide necessary infrastructures for imaging and stimulation of brain for cognition studies is equipped with advanced features for processing data, images and signals, as well as virtual reality and cognitive evaluation laboratories.

The Laboratory comprises various sections including an MRI, magnetic brain stimulation, functional infrared spectroscopy, electroencephalography, magnetoencephalography, image processing and analysis, and brain stimulation with ultrasound.

National Brain Mapping Laboratory is an affiliate of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, which, in close cooperation with Ministry of Health, and can be accessed by all universities across the country.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, First Vice-President Es’haq Jahangiri expressed satisfaction with the trend of progress in new technologies such as stem cells, aerospace, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and cognitive sciences.

He further maintained that the development of science and technology has become a public discourse in the country, and all governmental officials, the President, as well as Leader of the Islamic Revolution, seek to promote the country’s scientific and technological advancements to their rightful position.
