Minister of Education: The National Education Network to be launched

Sayyed Mohammad Bathayi, during a meeting with the Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, said that during the past eight months, with the establishment of the twelfth government, we have begun our missions, but now we have to give some reforms to these missions and have more focus on the skills that are in needs of our society. He noted that life skills, Islamic and Iranian life style and how to deal with threats and risks are issues that the education system needs to enter into.

The education minister continued: "One of the important strategies is interacting with families, especially in cyberspace. This communication with families is essential, because we have presented a worrying number of social injuries statistics to the supreme leader, but these figures even though little, but  they are not proper to our educational system. The use of drugs and suicide acts though low in percentage, but it is a serious issue that we have to consider it in the agenda of the ministry."

In response to the question of Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, which is a statistic of these kinds of problems, he said: "8% of the students are at increased risk of addiction, including one-time use of drugs; the problem of smoking is increasing, which is about one percent of students in the period of secondary school. A large part of these problems happen within the family due to divorce, poverty and family violence. Also, cybercrime damage is very serious."

He pointed out that we have newly been preparing a program called the family environment, but due to the limited broadcasting of these programs on TV, we have launched the National Network for Education, which will be unveiled soon.

He added: "In the field of Hijab  and chastity, in addition to religious foundations, we have begun to study this social issue and study the effects of Hijab and chastity from a social perspective. During past years we have had good cooperation with the seminary, but from the past this tradition has existed. Now all our efforts are to be able to use all the capacities of the seminaries to advance the goals of the Ministry of Education."
