New book explores works by Persian calligrapher Yadollah Kaboli

Entitled “Sama in Sama”, the 352-page book has been published by Gooya House of Culture and Art.

Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani, prominent calligrapher Gholamhossein Amirkhani and a number of calligraphers attended the ceremony, Niavaran Cultural Center announced in a press release on Tuesday, according to Tehran Times.
In his brief speech, Moradkhani said that poets like Hafez live in the society with the calligraphy of artists such as Yadollah Kaboli.
“Years ago when I decided to learn calligraphy, I found it impossible to attend Kaboli’s classes since they were very crowded but we were informed that we could work with his students. And now after all these years I must admit that if an individual meets with Kaboli, he will surely leave his heart with him,” Moradkhani said.
“The most prominent characteristics that one can see in him are his pure personality and his kind, tender heart. And everybody feels joy and happiness in remembering his name,” he added, expressing his hope for a long life full of honesty and sincerity.
Mohammad Sadegh Kharazi, a former Iranian ambassador to France, who is also an art collector, was also among the participants and said that Kharrazi is an heir to nastaliq calligraphy in Iran.
“Art is not mingled with power and politics, power and politics will soon be gone, and what remains is art and morality,” he added.
“The hand and mind of Kaboli have not become weary despite all these years during which he has been active. The kindly behavior of Kaboli is a fine example that can lead to production of kindness while preventing hurtful behaviors,” calligrapher Amirkhani said.
Director of Iran’s Association of Calligraphers asked the mayor of Khansar (Kaboli’s hometown) to order a statue of the master to be installed later on in the city.
Expressing thanks to the participants, Kaboli said that he feels proud when he looks at his book and feels as if he is reborn again.
An exhibition of Kaboli’s works also opened on the side section of the event.
