Online Persian language teaching course welcomed by 15 countries

Participants from 15 countries welcomed the online Persian language teaching course.

 

Sa'di Foundation's Deputy Head for Training and Research, Reza Morad Sahraei told reporters that Participants from 15 countries welcomed the online Persian language teaching course.

 

“Registration for the virtual course began on March 16 and has been welcomed by fans in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Georgia, Japan, Germany, Russia, Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Lebanon, India, Argentina, Egypt and Armenia,” he added.

 

He said that one of the main features of non-synchronous Persian language teaching methods is the non-simultaneous presence of students and professors in the system, and added: “The content of these courses is richer and higher quality than contemporary courses.”

 

“Other features of this course include: being available anywhere and anytime, unlimited number of participants, having rich and high-quality educational videos, interactive design as participants are asked questions during the broadcast of each video, presentation of the text of each video to facilitate learning and holding exams after each session,” he said.

 

He stated that the content of the non-simultaneous courses includes 9 hours of interactive instructional videos, video text, related resources and online tests. Therefore, if you watch any video and pass the test of each session, it will be possible to view the content of the next session. At the end of the session, a test of all the content of the course is held, which is automatically corrected and the user can see the test result a few moments later.

According to Sahraei, the certificate will be issued electronically if all 9 sessions are observed and 9 exams are passed and a score of at least 70 in the final exam is achieved. Certificates have a validation code and can be verified by Saadi Foundation website.

 

“To prepare these 9 training sessions, 54 educational and rich video hybrid episodes-in which the educational content is included, have been recorded and stored. A 13-member team consisting of specialists from Center for teaching Persian to speakers of other languages Allameh Tabataba'i University, software engineers, educational technologist and content graphic designer were also involved. The contents were verified by educational technologists based on the standard of Massive open online courses like Coursera and EDX.”

 

stressing that Persian language teachers in Iran, those interested in teaching Persian abroad, as well as teachers working in cultural consultations abroad are the main audience of this course, Sahraei said: In the educational videos of this course, Saadi Foundation's authored books as well as specialized Persian language teaching resources as a second language have been used, to improve dour basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

 

“During the two months of the course, a support group consisting of four technical support staff, two training support personnel, as well as a content support staff member answered the possible questions of each contact in less than three hours;” he said. “So far, more than 380 questions have been answered and there is also a facilitator in each class who has passed the specialized training course in cyberspace. In addition to the instructor and facilitator, educational and technical sponsors also support learners before and during the course to connect and maintain contact with the course.

 

In the end, he said, 143 people have registered for the course so far, and 13 have reached the final stage and passed the exam, of which 9 have scored above 70 and have succeeded in receiving the Saadi Foundation's international certificate.
