Ebtekar praised women’s progress in different fields of high education, sports, women, and health.
She made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Human Rights Commissioner, Kate Gilmore, in Tehran on Wednesday, ILNA reported.
The official further criticized sanctions against Iran and its negative impact on health and nutrition, medicine, life quality, agriculture and environment as a clear violation of human rights.
Women’s strategy is to make more efforts on production and entrepreneurship, stated the vice president.
Referring the concept of gender equality, Ebtekar noted that it is welcomed in Islamic countries.
Gilmore for her part said “Iranian Women’s progress is honorable for the regional viewpoint and not receiving international support for women’s development is fully understandable.”
“We seek for new healthy relations with Iran and the Department for Women and Family Affairs,” she added.
Iran is among the leading countries in the region regarding the status of human rights, she noted.
Gilmore said she is honored to see that Iranian women are playing different important and leading roles in society, Mehr reported.
Condemning Islamophobia, racism and unilateral measures, Gilmore stressed that the issue of human rights should not become a political tool.
She went on to say that the understandings of the UN council about the status of human rights in Iran have deepened and Iran is now one of the leading countries of the region in this regard.
