President at Imam Hussein’s (AS) mourning ceremony in Bangkok

President Rouhani attended Imam Hussein’s (AS) mourning ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand late on Sunday.

In the meeting that was held in the presence of Dr Rouhani’s accompanying delegation, a number of Iranian nationals and Thai clerics and Shias, Dr Rouhani said: “Imam Hussein (AS) belongs not only to Islam and Shias, but also to all free people around the world”.

“Imam Hussein (AS) did not give his life for the cause of a particular group; his goal was global values and he belongs to the entire humanity,” he added.

He continued: “Billions of people throughout the world respect Imam Hussein (AS) because he chose the path of morality, Jihad and peace”.

Stating that Imam Hussein (AS) and Imam Hassan (AS) were the leaders of Jihad and peace, he said: “Imam Hussein (AS) did not start a war, the enemy did and he defended. Imam Hussein was the Imam of morality, humbleness and kindness and he wanted to guide the enemy army into the right path”.
