President: Iran-S. Korea ties developing

President Rouhani, in a meeting the Foreign Minister of South Korea, said that Iran and S. Korea ties are developing and the two countries have got considerable capacities to expand cooperation in all areas.

In this meeting which was held late on Saturday in Tehran, the President said: “Today, a more favourable environment for expanding Tehran-Seoul ties as two friend countries has been provided and this environment should be used to the benefit of both nations in a better way”.

President Rouhani expressed hope that S. Korean corporations can have a more active presence in the Iranian market and grow their cooperation with the private sector in Iran.

On cultural commonalities of the two nations, Dr Rouhani said: “Iran and South Korea can cooperate more in some areas such as culture, science, and tourism”.

Rouhani added: “Iran and S. Korea can also cooperate and consult on developing peace and stability in the Middle East and the Eastern Asia, as well as humanitarian aid”.

In this meeting, the Foreign Minister of South Korea Yun Byung-se expressed his country’s eagerness to strengthen ties with Iran in all areas, including economy and said: “Big Koreas companies are keen to see sanctions lifted and grow their presence in the Iranian market.

“Without a doubt, in the future, there will be a lot of comings and goings between the officials of Iran and South Korea, and economic institutions of S. Korea will flood into Iran” said Yun.

Saying that S. Korea always sees Iran is its friend, Yun added: “Cultural commonalities and historic ties of 50 years between the two countries sets a favourable groundwork for cementing ties and interaction in economic and political areas.

Pointing to successful nuclear negotiations, he considered it as a good model for solving regional issues and said: “In East Asia as well, there are many political issues which the countries of the region are trying to solve by relying on negotiation and I am sure that Iran’s nuclear negotiations with Your Excellency’s management will have an effective role in spreading peace in the region”.
