President Rouhani arrived in Mashhad on Thursday in order to visit Imam Reza’s (AS) holy shrine and review the latest developments in construction, economic, and cultural plans of the province.

President was received by Supreme Leader's representative in Khorasan Razavi province, the Governor General, and a number of provincial authorities.
In an interview with the press in the airport upon his arrival, President Rouhani told the reporters that he was scheduled to visit Imam Reza's (AS) holy shrine and be briefed on the latest developments on construction, economic, and cultural plans of the province.
He continued: “Visiting Imam Reza’s (AS) holy shrine is a big honour for the people of Iran because all we have got, is due to the Family of Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) favour, especially Imam Reza (AS)”
A number of cabinet members will accompany the President in this trip.
