We should take big steps in the path of great victories through unity and the Supreme Leader’s guidance, said President Rouhani in a meeting with officials of the Sacred Defence era late on Saturday.
Appreciating the officials, Dr Rouhani said: “Continuing our nuclear activities under international regulations, which were unjustly used to deprive us of nuclear enrichment, is a great victory”.
He also expressed happiness over Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani’s presence in the meeting and said: “He acted as Imam Khomeini’s (RA) representative in the Supreme Council of Defence along the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei”.
“Various wars such as World War I and II, the Vietnam War and the Korean War have been history-making and effective in the future of the countries and even the world,” said Rouhani.
He added: “A great number of aggressions have been effective in the critical conditions that we are witnessing today in the world; if we follow the roots of regional and global terrorism back, we will find out that aggression in Afghanistan and Iraq were the roots”.
Mentioning Soviet Union and United States’ aggression in Afghanistan as the root-causes of Al-Qaida, he continued: “If Iraq and Afghanistan were not occupied and war in Syria was not promoted, we would not see terrorism as big as this in the region”.
Dr Rouhani went on referring to the Sacred Defence and said: “In the beginning of the war, all those who could go the arena participated and we witnessed the development and coordination of the Army and the Army of the Guardians”.
“Massive public attendance in confronting aggressors made our defence popular,” said the President, adding that late Imam Khomeini’s (RA) exceptional command lead the country to victory.
He also said that in the Sacred Defence era a big part of the country’s industries helped the defence industry and supplied the fronts with ammunition.
Saluting the martyrs of the Sacred Defence and the Islamic Revolution, President Rouhani added: “If it were not for self-sacrifice, unity and following Imam’s orders in the Sacred Defence, we could not achieve victory”.
