President speaking at closing ceremony of the 8th Farabi International Award

Imam Khomeini trusted people's power in all stages of the movement/Science responsible for not just identifying and changing, but guiding the society and leading it to perfection/Culture the most important factor for peoples' progress

"The responsibility of science is not just identifying and changing, but rather guiding the society and leading it to perfection," said President Rouhani while speaking at closing ceremony of the 8th Farabi International Award on Sunday in Tehran.

• The great task of scholars and the educated is to lead the society to balance and excellence
• Culture is the most important factor for peoples' progress
• Without guiding public culture, solving economic and environmental issues is not possible
• The Revolution is young as long as there is the right to choose

"There is no asset higher than the social asset and public trust and if the educated are not able to transfer good thoughts, the society will not be convinced," added Dr Rouhani.

Stating that "there is no asset higher than the social asset and public trust," he said: "If the educated are not able to transfer good thoughts, the society will not be convinced".

The victory of the Islamic Revolution requires analysis and review by experts, without relying on east and west camps, said Rouhani adding: "The responsibility of science is not just identifying and changing, but rather guiding the society and leading it to perfection"

He also said: "The great task of scholars and the educated is to lead the society to balance and excellence".

"If it were not for Imam [Khomeini]'s accurate sociological view, the revolution would not capture victory," continued the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying: "Imam trusted people's power during all stages of the movement".

He also said: "The biggest responsibility of solving the issues of the society is on the shoulders of human sciences".

Dr Rouhani added: "Solving the problems of the society depends on special attention to the practical aspects of sciences".

Stating that culture is the most important factor for peoples' progress, he said: "Without guiding public culture, solving economic and environmental issues is not possible".

"One of the greatest honours of the Revolution is continuous holding of elections and people deciding," President Rouhani said, adding that the Revolution is young as long as there is the right to choose.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also said: "Farabi Award is festival for praising the experts of human and Islamic sciences".
