Publishing 80m Textbooks Annually by "Iran Publishing Company

IRNA newsagency reported, Seyyed Mohammad Mousavi, the secretary general of "publishing and distributing textbooks" company said in the sideline of "The Third Round of Media Conference of Education Journalists" that the company is now publishing and distributing all textbooks related to secondary school, pre-university, technical and professional school adding that the mentioned company started its activity in 1976, first in a small area with only 6 printing machineries.

Mousavi continued: As the company alone was not able to print 120 million volumes of textbooks at that time (1976) and could only produce 31 million volumes per year, this need was used to be provided with the help of other companies and, and books were delivering to students with a few month of delay.

He added: "currently 600 staff are working 24 hours a day in the Company in an area of 27,000 square meters, and the company has been able to use the most updated printing machinery to distribute textbooks among students in due time….since 2006 we have not faced a shortfall of textbooks.

The director of printing and distributing textbook company said that textbooks are sent to different provinces through the company and provided with booksellers for distribution among students. 

About the quality of papers Mousavi stated: since students are in contact with textbooks, we have always tried to apply the best quality papers "UPM".

According to Mousavi, they have not produced domestic paper due to producers' obstacles in the past two years, but this year, five thousand tons of paper will be supplied to companies by Iranian producers.

In the academic year of 2017-18, approximately 138 million volumes of textbooks have been published, of which 128 million volumes have already been offered to students.
