Quran Studies Can Provide Slutions to Today’s Global Problems

Chairman of Malaysian Institute of Wasatiyyah Tan Sri Abdullah Md Zin said the move could also provide solutions to today’s global problems that can be described as losing direction in life, affecting peace and harmony in life.

"As such, universities, especially Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) through its Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies can play a pivotal role in providing solutions or guidance to the world now,” he told reporters after attending the launch of the fifth international-level ‘Wahyu Asas Tamadun’ seminar, themed 'Wasatiyyah Al-Quran in Addressing Contemporary Challenges’, at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.

Abdullah, who is also the Religious Advisor to Malaysia's prime minister, said among the challenges faced in applying the ‘wasatiyyah’ or moderation concept was balancing internal and external development.

About 500 participants joined the two-day seminar which started Wednesday and organized by USIM and the Malaysian Institute of Wasatiyyah.
