Russian Iranologists visit Tehran

The all-expenses-paid trip has been organized by the Iranian Embassy in Moscow to observe the achievements of scholars in Iranian studies, Tehran Times reported.

Vydrin and Chalisova are scheduled to hold meetings with some Iranian scholars on Russian studies at the University of Tehran.

They will also meet with officials of the Sadi Foundation, an Iranian institute that promotes the Persian language abroad. In addition, a tour of Tehran has been arranged for the scholars.

Vydrin is a researcher of the Department of Linguistic Typology at the Institute for Linguistic Studies (ILI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg.

Chalisova is a professor of Persian literature at the Institute of Oriental and Classical Studies at the Russian State University for Humanities in Moscow.

Her research interests are primarily in the history of Iranian literature of the pre-Mongolian period and in traditional literary theory with particular focus on the conventions of poetic imagery and on the hermeneutical problem of understanding Persian poetry.

The all-expenses-paid trip to Iran was initiated by Iran during a large meeting of Russian Iranologists and Persian language scholars in Moscow in December 2014.

The trip program is awarded every year to Russian scholars with outstanding achievements in Persian studies.
