Science Ministry to help Iranian students in US

Mohammad Farhadi’s comment came in response to a question by Mehr News correspondent in regard to the Saturday executive order signed by the US president Donald Trump which suspends refugee arrivals and imposes tough controls on travelers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

“There are a number of Iranian PhD students in the US who can spend a part of their research opportunity programs in one of the universities in other advanced countries in the world,” he said.

“The Ministry of Science, Research and Technology has decided that these students be given time to be accepted in universities of other countries and that this period of time will not be included in their time limit on study,” he added.

“The United States and Britain are not considered as strategic countries for Iran’s science and technology fields, as such, the ban on the entry of Iranian students into the US will not have the smallest impact on our scientific development process.”

“Iran’s science and technology are an endogenous process and its activities are not dependent on other counties,” he stressed.
