Science VP: Iran, foreign countries to jointly establish tech-parks

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the 5th International Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INOTEX) in Tehran on Sunday.

'In order to exchange the technical knowhow between domestic and foreign companies we should develop the necessary infrastructure,' Sattari said.

The exhibition has prepared grounds for transfering the technological know-how in various scientific fields, he added.

The number of foreign companies attending this year's INOTEX exhibition has doubled but we should consider the fact that we do not seek to turn the country into a consuming market for foreign products, the vice president said.

We should try to remain committed to our domestic market, he said.

Iran with a population of 80 million now tends to constitute over 50 percent of internet users across the Middle East region, he said.

There are some 50 million smart phones oporating in the country, a number that represents a huge market, Sattari said.

We need to lay the appropriate ground for the export of our science products to foreign countries, he said.
