Selection Committee Reaching Final Decision on OIC Science Prize Winners

The seventh meeting of the policy-making council of the Mustafa Prize was held in Tehran on August 1 to make the final decision on the award winners.

The meeting was attended by chairman of the council and Iran’s vice-president for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, and a number of other Iranian and foreign academics.

“A great work under the name of the Mustafa Prize is running now and the whole amount of this prize is being financed by nongovernmental resources,” Sattari said in the session.

Launched in 2013, the Mustafa Prize is a top science and technology award given biennially to the top researchers and scientists from the OIC member states.

The prize is awarded in four categories, namely life science and medical sciences, nanoscience and nanotechnologies, the information and communication science and technologies, and top scientific achievement in the other fields, according to the Mustafa Prize website.

Winners in each section are awarded $500,000.
