A Society Familiar with the Cultures of Self-sacrificing and Martyrdom Never Stops nor Does Turn Back

According to the Ministry of Education PR and Information Center, the Supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei in a meeting called the effective presence of the elite in the Sacred War a sign of promotion of motivation for "dedication for the sake of God and martyrdom" at all levels of society. Emphasizing the importance of celebrating martyrs and cherishing their memory, he said that martyrs' celebration ceremonies are in fact pursuing jihadi movement and martyrdom, and martyrs' memory and learning from them should continuously be promoted in the society.

Pointing out the dedication and martyrdom of Imam Hosein (AS) and the essential role his dedication had in preserving Islam, the holy Quran and Islamic teachings, the leader of the Islamic Revolution added that if a society remembers martyrs and martyrdom as a permanent reality, there will be no failure and such a society will keep on making progress without any fear or sadness.

Later on, he said that the great achievement of Iranian people has been to show that classifying the world into "dominating and dominated" countries is wrong. Although the dominating are more likely to oppress the oppressed and the deprived by means of their many tools today, an identity based on divine and ethical foundations, called the Islamic revolution, has emerged and is bravely resisting the domination system.

Referring to the continuous progress of the Islamic revolution towards the peaks and the enemies' failure to stop this progress, Ayatollah Khamenei said, "during the sacred defense period, some believed that by sending students to the war fronts, universities would become empty and a vacuum would be created in the scientific progress of the country. It was later known however, that there was much blessing on martyrdom and jihad for the sake of God. Those efforts and dedications led to the current scientific status of the country that is honorable and a more advanced sector."

The leader of the Islamic revolution specified that cherishing the names of martyrs and the culture of martyrdom is vital for the country and added, "culture of martyrdom is the culture of self-sacrificing for the long-term and common goals of our people and humanity in general. This culture is the exact opposite of the individualistic culture of the west that seeks everything for oneself and assesses everything according to personal and materialistic benefits."

He concluded that a society will never stop nor will turn back if the cultures of self-sacrificing and martyrdom becomes widespread in it.
