Story telling should be promoted in schools

According to the Public Relations of the Ministry of Education, Fakhreddin Danesh Ashtiani said the closing ceremony of the first “Children and Young Adults Reading Clubs competition”: I believe teaching through stories, makes studying pleasant for students.

He added: There are two views about reading, one regards reading as a side activity and the other insists that educational programs should contain reading materials and I believe educational texts should promote reading.

Reducing textbooks’ volume, students have more time to read, he added; promoting reading culture, we can expand pedagogical training to the society, for we are now moving toward society centered education, instead of school centered one.

Answering the question of one students who asked” what book we should read to become a minister?”, Ashtiani said: Nobody reads a book with the intention of becoming a minister, but a minister who reads books, would be successful in his job.

Minister of Education remarked: By creating book clubs, students should move their books to classes, so others may use them too, and school’s staff should help them and enrich the clubs.
