Tehran to host Int’l Tourism Fair

Ali-Baqer Nemati Zargaran further said that a congress titled ‘Investment Opportunities’ will also be organized on the sidelines of the event with the participation of investors from a number of countries.
The exhibition will be held in an area of over 26,000 square meters, he said.

“Ambassadors based in Iran received invitations at an official ceremony in Tehran’s Laleh Hotel a few days ago,” he said, recalling that 345 investors from 13 countries including Turkey, China, Germany, Tunisia, Venezuela, Vietnam, Armenia, South Korea, Norway and Canada attended the event last year.

He described last year’s exhibition as successful since it helped introduce Iran’s attractions to the world.

“This year, Iran plans to draw foreign investments in these projects which can foster international collaboration,” he said.

Zargaran said educational workshops on the themes of ‘Culture, Cuisine: Their Roles in Attracting Tourists’ and ‘Halal Tourism’ will be held on Feb. 17 and 18, 2016 on the sidelines of the main expo.

“More than 1,200 tourism projects, which are economically viable, will be publicized in the exhibition. The projects had earlier been studied by delegations from Australia, Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands, which visited Iran in the past few months with the aim of expanding trade ties,” he said.

The last visiting delegation included representatives from Sustainable Tourism Sector of Germany’s Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and leading experts from Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA).

“They were in Iran for 12 days to study tourism projects in Semnan, Golestan, Kohgiluyeh-Boyerahmad and Tehran provinces to decide whether they want to become involved in the projects,” Zargaran said.

“Representatives from GIZ pledged to visit Iran on Dec. 1 to discuss tourism projects,” he said.

The official voiced satisfaction over the presence of European trade delegations in Iran and hoped that with the lifting of the sanctions, more foreign teams will visit the country.
