In a meeting between Iran's Culture Minister Abbas Salehi and the Indian Ambassador to Iran Saurabh Kumar, the two sides highlighted the need to expand ties in the fields of arts and culture, wrote IRNA.
Pointing to the cultural and civilizational history of the two countries, Salehi noted the growth in bilateral ties in recent years and said President Hassan Rouhani's recent trip to India paved the ground for further expanding Tehran-New Delhi relations.
Touching upon holding Indian festivals in Iran, Salehi said that Iran is ready to host such events to develop cultural ties between the two countries.
The meeting also focused on the significance of Iran in the cultural field and its great civilization.
Both Iran and India are well-known in the world, he said, they are able to introduce each other's culture and history through joint cinematic productions.
Salehi recalled that countries like Italy, Russia, China and Japan were Iran's guests of honor in the earlier editions of Tehran International Book Fair, adding that India can be one of the next guests to develop cultural ties in general and in book publication in particular.
Elaborating on the activities of India's Cultural Center in Iran, Kumar said that it hosts several events such as cultural seminars, ceremonies to commemorate the Indian activist Mahatma Gandhi.
He said holding Indian studies conferences in Iran help develop cultural and scientific relations between Iran and India.
"Iran has many capabilities, technologies and creativities in terms of music, cinema, theater and book and it will pave the way for more joint cooperation."
