Toos to Neyshabur Poetry Congress to focus on Iran’s Book Capital

Deputy director for Culture and Press Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance told IRNA that holding a national congress in Neyshabur as Iran’s capital book city could develop reading culture in the country.
Youssef Amini said the congress will be inaugurated May 14 in Mashhad and the closing ceremony will be held on May 17 in Neyshabur.
According to Amini, the congress will focus on topics such as pilgrims and pilgrimage, Mashhad as the cultural capital of the Islamic world, and Neyshabur’s historical sites and symbols.
The ancient city of Neyshabur is located in northeastern Iran in Khorassan Razavi Province. Last March, it was designated as Iran’s Book Capital for the current Persian calendar year started March 20.
May 14 and May 17 have been named in Iranian calendar after Ferdowsi and Khayyam, the two great Iranian poets who were born in Toos and Neyshabur respectively.
