Tourists from 80 Countries Visit Susa this Year

He told IRNA that the tourists were from the US, Britain, France, the Netherlands, China, Japan, Malaysia, Austria, Taiwan, South Korea, Poland, Belgium, Russia, Czech Republic, Chile, Italia, Australia, Iraq and some Persian Gulf states.

He said that most of the visitors were from Italy, Germany and France this year.

Nejati underlined that development of tourism needs infra-structure installations and said that Susa, historically, religiously and naturally has a high potential for attracting tourists.

A group of French tourists also told IRNA that ancient sites of Susa are part of Iran's ancient civilization, which are unique and historical building of Susa are among remarkable sites in the world architecture.

In the one day visit, the French tourists visited Susa historical castle, museum and garden as well as Apadana Palace, Cyrus Palace, Royal Town, World Temple of Choghazanbil and Jews Prophet Daniel mausoleum.

Susa is one of the most well-known cities of old world, which once was capital of Ilam government and winter capital of Achaemenid dynasty.

The city has two world registered sites.

Susa is located 100 kilometers north of Ahvaz, capital of Khuzestan province. Last year more than 10,000 foreign tourists visited the town
